Made by Claudius Ash & Sons in the last quarter of the 19th Century, this extremely well made instrument box was owned by a dental surgeon, C F P Baly, who became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in November 1894. The box has a hinged top for papers and letters, a brass locking bar to keep the 5 graduated drawers from opening when shut, a carrying handle and locking hooks on either side.
