Originating from the Ottoman Empire in the last quarter of the 19th Century this red and blue velvet jacket is embroidered with an intricate filigree of gold threads, interspersed with coloured yarns forming sprays of flowers and geometric patterns.It is assumed to be for a ceremonial occasion or possibly worn during a marriage.
