Georgian Sampler "Sarah Hockley" 1796
A late 18th Century sampler embroidered by Sarah Hockley in December 1796 aged 8 years, with intricate geometrical patterns, shields, flowers, trees and birds.
There are some loses to the backing cloth and there is fading but for a sampler of the age this is not surprising.
Part of a small collection of 6 samplers bought in the 70's and 80's by a couple who are now downsizing.

Georgian Sampler by "Mary Main" 1829
A sampler created in the reign of George IV featuring alphabet, numbers and a verse or prayer.
Decorated with a crown, thistles, birds and flowers with a scrolling border.
Made by Mary Main and dated August 3rd 1829.
There has been some fading of the colours but generally this is in very good condition in a Rosewood frame.

One of a small collection of six samplers bought mainly in the 70s and 80s by a couple now downsizing.

Georgian Silver Caddy Spoon
Clam shell or Palm leaf shaped George III silver caddy spoon, with crisp chased engraving and the letter "M" on the handle. It is in very good condition with clear marks indicating it was made in London by Walter Brind in 1785.

In plain form there is a letter "G" on the back of the handle.

This gilt relief portrait is in a hardwood frame and a domed glass and is of the most celebrated novelist of the Victorian period.
It is in very good condition.

Horn Handled Hardwood Sword Stick
A beautifully balanced Edwardian sword stick, horn handle, hardwood scabbard, silver collar dated London 1914, twist lock, diamond shaped blade with the remains of blueing apparent and ending in a steel and brass ferrule, this stick is in excellent condition.

Ladies Silver Handled Walking Cane
Right angle handled Edwardian ladies walking cane with silver handle, collar and copper ferrule, hallmarked for Birmingham 1907, maker"OY".

In reasonable condition, the silver is worn and the collar is thin and a little loose.

Large Oval Silver Bread or Biscuit Basket
A substantial oval bread or buscuit basket with an ornate open cut foliage fretwork design initialed in the centre with "JW". There are a few dings but nothing that takes away from the attractiveness of the piece.

Made by Mappin & Webb in Birmingham in 1929/30.

Large Silver Box by Mappin & Webb
Silver cigarette or cigar box hallmarked for London 1904 and made by Mappin & Webb. It has a hammered finish and is lined with cedar with a leather base.
There is a set of ornate copper initials to the top of the box, there seems to be a "P" a "C" and maybe an "L". I think these are a later addition.

Large Silver Plated Serving Tray
Dating to about 1880 this large silver plated serving tray is decorated with acorns and oak leaves - the regimental emblems of "The Cheshire Regiment". It was gifted to a retiring member of the regiment by the Sergeants Mess in about 1903. It has been re-plated at some stage and has a small crack in one of the handles but otherwise is an impressive piece of late Victorian plate.

Late 19th Century 4 Draw Brass Telescope
The "Lord Bury" made by J H Steward of 54 Cornhill, London. No 618.
This type of telescope was popular in the last quarter of 19th Century and was named after the Under-Secretary for War, Lord Bury, 1878-80 & 1885-86.
This examp[le is in good original condition with evidence of use, it has a dented final lens with a small chip.

Late 19th Century Mahogany Wardrobe
With a bevelled mirror on the door, pilasters supporting an ornately carved pediment, adjustable shelves and drawers this late Victorian or early Edwardian mahogany wardrobe is a handsome piece of furniture.
Inside there are two oak shelves that can be moved up or down the bracket supports and also an oak drawer unit that can also be adjusted. So you could have, three shelves (one having the drawer below) a shoe shelf and the bottom fixed drawer as well as some hanging space.
The pads under the feet are there because the floor is not level not the other way round!
